I put savage silhouette on it and it gets magma rifted. I topdeck grazing gladeheart then turntimber basilisk. I have dobule vines of the vastwood to save my gladeheart from an attack I then draw baloth woodcrasher he does 16 thanks to harrow and I topdeck burst lightning! Smile

game 2 I get t2 expedition again and he get ruinour minotaur and shattterskull. I have no turn 3 play but draw gladeheart t4 and play it and misty rainforst gaining back 6 life. I moldshambler his land putting him down to 2 land then trade it for his shatterskull. Baloth comes out and I trade it for ruinous minitaur shortcutter and stonework puma. I then slowly kill him with basilisk and finally combra trap then silhouette on the gladeheart Smile

Round 2 vs Black red.

he gets t2 zektar shrine, t3 shrine I get a nissa's chosen.

he blocks a sellsword and gets vined but I take 1 from misty rainforest and 14 fro the shrine Sad I then drop silhouette on the chosen and he drops geopede.

I get a basilisk out and he goes to heartstabber by chosen but I silhouette him in response. I then attack my turntimber into his heartstabber and geopede and he double blocks and I I vines again Smile I get a grumble. I then get river boa and gladeheart and mold shambler and slowly take him down Smile

Game 2 he gets and early shrine and a tuktuk grunts. I inferno trap the shrine token and then burst the tuktuk he heartstabbers my hellfire mongrel and then I play river boa. I eventually suit up my boa so he an block the tuktuk (if he pops his soul stair and I have recluse and mold shambler but no 6th land when I draw the 6th land I attack with the boa and mold shambler his soul stair so I can axe his heartstabber. he gets another shrine and I get woodcrasher. I manage to stay alive at 1 before I kill him

Split in the finals! Smile

P1P3: In a lot of formats, Kalitas would be an insane bomb. Is this format just too fast for it?

Non-trampling Baloths: Your dislike seems pretty serious. Do you consider them pretty much unplayable? It seems like taking them might've helped you cut off green more thoroughly, since they came around kind of late.

P1P7: I think even in a slowish deck the Shortcutter is better than Oran-Rief Recluse. It makes all the mediocre midrange guys a lot better by forcing midgame punchthroughs when they think they have a chump-blocker. And it's not like you'll have any trouble finding a Recluse if you need one.

P1P8: Wow, that's a lot of hate for Baloth. Mongrel isn't unplayable, but he seems absolutely mediocre to me even in a format where he can ding for two regularly. Was this a curve consideration?

P1P9: Whether you like them or not, I agree that signaling here means you may have to take it regardless.

P1P12: See? Smile

P2P1: If you didn't have Flats in this pack, would picking Tsunami push you GUr? Your only exciting red card is Lightning, and that seems pretty splashable...

P2P2: Ugh. Larva feels infinitely worse than the 4/4s you were passing late last pack, and with the curve you're looking at I'd be happier either taking Chosen here and hoping for Larva to table, or taking Bladetusk and cementing myself in Red as a second color.

P2P3: With a Woodcrasher already in your pile, how close is Harrow here?

P2P10: Congrats. Smile

yeah most games are over by turn 7 unless someone has gladehearts going... turn 8?

I agree maybe I should have taken the baloths just to signal but on pick 8 I was still hoping to be more balanced red and wanted to keep the curve low... pick 9... well I really like seacliffs in green and was wondering if blue would end up being more open than red and a possible second color.

but overall I definitely consider them 22nd cards at best and never want to play them.

yes. I sorta like G/U and with harrow and possibly some expeditions I'd happily splash a mountain for the burst.

I think bladetusk was the pick here but this guy is great if I end up nearly monogreen which I was thinking might happen.

close. I'm not sure if this was the right call but I think the deathtouch guy is pretty darn good as he can clear away pesky blockers (and gets amazing with vines of the vastwood)

Does the interface allow for splits these days, or are you trusting folks to exchange two packs?

In P1P4, is Geyser Glider not solid? I mean, the crasher is fine and it ended up being good for you to be in green. But with Glider there I didn't read your green fate as final so soon.

I'm just trusting people I'm not sure they are ever gonna code splits (even though they said they would)

and Glider is good... but not 16/16 trample good. Seriously the woodcrasher can do really mean things in this... evne if they have a giant scorpion to block.

I was thinking the same thing too. I know hindsight is 20/20 but you could have created an awesome Black/Red deck considering these P2P8, P3P2, and P3P10. This would have given you choice of tons of removal and great creatures. You could have even splashed in green and did alittle bit of land destruction with desecrated earths and mold shamblers. Anything would have been better than picking the recluses. I think I would have hate-drafted instead of picking those. But good to hear you did win some games and got some cards for it. Good gaming.
